Jakub Absolon as a guest of Vivety Gene in the podcast "The Merging Minds" by Bureau Works
Jakub Absolon, director of ASAP-translation.com, s.r.o. was a guest of Viveta Gene from Bureau Works on The Merging Minds podcast. The topic of the podcast was the present and future of machine translation post-editing. Jakub Absolon once again reiterated the opinion that it is necessary to update the ISO 18587:2017 standard on machine translation post-editing. This standard divides post-editing into two main categories, the so-called "partial post-editing" (Light Post-Editing) where only gross errors are removed and to "full post-Editing" (Full Post-Editing), where the result is practically identical to a human translation. This is precisely where Absolon sees the problem and claims that full post-editing is actually a normal human translation and should therefore also be properly paid. As for the future, Absolon anticipates that within a few years the post-editing and translation services will merge and only TRANSLATION will remain with the full responsibility of the translator for resulting translation and MACHINE TRANSLATION, where the risk of using such a translation is on the shoulders of the one who publishes the machine translation.
We co-organized a webinar on LLM and MT with lecturer Ondřej Bojar from Charles University in Prague
Katarína Absolonová organized a webinar on a current topic for members of the Association of Translation Agencies of Slovakia ATCSK, but also for the wider professional public and members of the sister organization from the Czech Republic the use of large LLM language models in the localization industry. The speaker was Ondřej Bojar, a world-renowned expert in the field of machine translation. He explained to the participants not only the basic operating principles of LLM systems and the history of machine translation, but also mainly outlined what we can expect from LLM systems in the near future and how to prepare translation companies for the period of localization with the help of artificial intelligence.
ASAP-translation.com s.r.o. indexed on Slator LSPI as “Boutique LSP
For the second time in a row, our company was indexed by Slator in 291 place (an improvement of 23 places compared to last year), as the so-called a "boutique" translation company, i.e. a business with a turnover of between 1 and 8 million USD. Due to their smaller size, so-called boutique firms often have the advantage of being more flexible and able to provide a more personalized approach to their clients. We managed to do it despite the fact that 2023 was not the best from a business point of view and we recorded a decrease in turnover and profit similar to the other 45% of companies in our "Boutique LSP" category. We will see what the year 2024 brings us. However, we leave nothing to chance and try to our services expand and make them more efficient.

Multimedia translation even better!
In order to improve the sound quality of internally realized recordings (voiceover), acoustic foam has been added to the walls in our premises, which dampens unwanted reflections of acoustic waves of recordings in a foreign language. Together with the new hardware and software equipment, we are ready to provide you with subtitling of your films and presentations, resp. their sound in a foreign language. This will make your presentations and ads much more appealing to customers.
